Week of Miracles

¿Qué pasa? I hope that everyone is doing great! This week has been so good. So many incredible experiences took place.

The first happened last Wednesday night. We had just gotten back to our rooms for the night and winding down. People were brushing their teeth and showering and this Elder comes hauling into our building just yelling "OIL OIL! WE NEED OIL! SOMEONE IS DYING!" So my companion, Elder Jones, threw his consecrated oil to the Elder and he took off back outside. We were all curious about what was going on so we took off after him to see what we could do to help. There was a Sister that had been having migraines all day and as she was walking back to her room that night she just passed out. By the time we got there the ambulance was already there and she had been given a blessing so there wasn't anything that we could do. Someone had the idea to pray with all the other missionaries there so we stood in a circle and prayed then decided we could do one better and ran back to our dorm rooms and gathered all the Elders we could find to join us in a prayer. It was so cool to see how quickly the other Elders would stop what they were doing just to join us in prayer for another Sister that they didn't know anything about. Even cooler was when they sould say "Yes! Can I grab some more Elders?" We gathered together in a corner of the residence hall surrounded by at least 50  to 60 other Elders. The spirit was so strong. So cool to be a part of it.

Another awesome experience was to give my first blessing! I would be lying if I said I wasn't nervous. Blessings and the priesthood are so cool though because it's not you. You're just the vessel that the Lord and Spirit work through. I really felt that to be true. I'm so grateful to be a holder of the priesthood and worthy to use it when called upon.

The last thought is that we are led by living Prophets, seers, and revelators that are directed by the Lord. We have a devotional every Tuesday from a general authority and every time I feel like the message is directed to me. This week we had Elder Brent H. Nielson come to address us. He spoke a lot about how the Savior and our Father in Heaven love us so much. They know us and are there wanting to help us through the challenges we're going through and are going to go through. I've been rereading 1 Nephi and studying the parts where the Lord asks difficult things of Nephi. Nephi in every instance humbles himself and let's God prevail in his life. Missions aren't easy and it'll only get harder, but I can use Nephi's example and humble myself and let God prevail in my life.

There are just a couple of the awesome experiences that have taken place this week! I hope everyone is taking care of themselves and doing awesome!

Con cariño,
Elder Holdstock
