The Bolivian 4th of July
Hola hola a todos
This one was a quiiiick week. We had zone Conferences this week which is always baller. The focus was to teach doctrine not just "cualquier cosa" and to focus on our own covenants that we have made with our Heavenly Father in our baptisms and in the temple because those will help us with our own conversion and in turn be better equipped with the Spirit to bless the lives of our friends. It was awesome,, so everyone remember your covenants and count your blessings!
Also this week after a zone conference I got shipped out to Linde for the day on exchange. We spent the afternoon visiting so many awesome people, but they all have a major difficulty that is stopping them from progressing and being baptized. No one continues to be married here, or if they are, they're married with someone they dont live with and can't get married to the person they do live with now because they dont have money to pay for the divorce or can't find their "spouse" to go and make it official. Sin embargo, they're little by little accepting the gospel in their life and one hermana said "mi vida cambió cuando los misioneros tocaron mi puerta la primera vez." We also gave this lady a Book of Mormon and she said she'd read it all the way to Sucre in the flota on her way to her church service
Also this week was "6 de Agosto" which is their independence day. Everyone was warning us to be careful because it's a crazy day and no one will be working, but it's just a normal day. Nothing compared to the 4th of July. I also met an hermana that day as we were buying Bolivia flag face masks speaking English. I talked to her and she told me how she used to live in the US for 7 years and is now an English teacher here, and doesn't like Bolivia that much and because of that she's celebrating the 4th of July in her class with her students jajaja Bolivians are something else! I love it here!
That's pretty much it this week, the work is different now, but I'm still loving my time here in Bolivia! There are so many people that have been prepared by our Heavenly Father and it's incredible! Love you all
Con cariño,
Elder Holdstock
