Carnival - miner edition
What's up everyone!
This week was a toughy. Up until then every day had been so good and all the weeks have been awesome, but this week things just fell through left and right. Including those three friends that were supposed to be baptized.
Nicolas and Luciana live in Uyuni which is like 2 or 3 hours from Potosí and we aren't allowed to go there so we only teach for video calls. The day of their interview they just stopped answering the phone and their mom who is a member decided that they weren't ready and needed another week. They are like teenagers and know everything so that was a little frustrating, but they have testimonies so we know that they will get baptized soon.
Mauricio is a lawyer and also has his girlfriend in the ward that has been helping us teach him. The day of his interview he sent us a message saying he had an emergency trip to Cochabamba for work and now he doesn't answer and the girlfriend didn't talk to us at all yesterday at church so who knows what's going on there.
We did have a big miracle though because someone we weren't super focused on wanted to be baptized on Sunday. He's a son of an inactive member, and his sister is super active and preparing for the mission. He basically put himself on date and we just got the job done with the little guy Derek.
It's also just been a crazy time here. It's been soooo cold and rainy, and it's also time for Carnaval in Potosí. So basically everyone just gets so drunk and dances in parades and throw water and shaving cream at each other. It's pretty funny to watch, but then all our visits and stuff fall through which is tough. And contacting drunk guys passed out in the street doesn't do us much. But we are staying positive and we've got a big week ahead of us with a couple more friends hopefully headed to the waters of baptism.
Have an awesome week
